Katie Ledecky was probably already the greatest female swimmer in history, but she cemented her status as the most decorated female American Olympian at the 2024 Paris Games.

Ledecky, 27, came to Paris with a total of 10 Olympic medals in the pool, just two behind the record held by Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres and Natalie Coughlin. Her 2024 Paris Olympics schedule had four events – the 400-, 800- and 1,500-meter freestyle, and the 4x200 freestyle relay – and she made history by earning a medal in all of them.

Katie Ledecky medals at Paris Olympics

• 400 free: Ledecky won her 11th career Olympic medal with a third-place finish in the women's 400-meter freestyle.

• 1,500 free: Ledecky won her 12th career Olympic medal, and eighth gold, by winning the women's 1,500-meter freestyle.

• 4x200 free relay: Ledecky won her 13th career Olympic medal, the most by any U.S. female Olympian, with a silver medal in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay.

• 800 free: Ledecky won her fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal in the 800-meter freestyle, completing her week with her fourth medal in Paris and 14th in her Olympic career. Ledecky is one of seven Olympians with gold medals in the same event in four different Games, and among five Americans to do so (joining Vincent Hancock, Michael Phelps, Carl Lewis and Al Oerter).
