Kansas basketball player Arterio Morris: What we know about his college career
LAWRENCE — Former Kansas basketball player Arterio Morris is facing a rape charge, following his arrest Friday morning.
Morris transferred earlier this year to play for the Jayhawks after starting his college career at Texas. He had participated in Kansas’ trip to Puerto Rico in August. Now he is in legal trouble again, and no longer a member of the program following head coach Bill Self’s announcement that Morris had been dismissed.
Here’s what we know about Morris:
Arterio Morris was arrested and charged with rape
Morris was arrested a little after 7 a.m. Friday and charged with rape, a severity level 1 personal felony, for an incident that allegedly occurred in late August in Douglas County. He was released on a $75,000 surety bond.
According to the complaint document, he could face “a minimum of 147 months to a maximum of 653 months in prison and/or a fine of up to $300,000 and 36 months of post-release supervision” as a penalty.

Morris pled no contest to a Class C misdemeanor for assault and was fined $362, while the state abandoned a finding of family violence.
