Kansas basketball officially announces road exhibition game at Arkansas in October

LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball will be involved in another charity exhibition game this year, when it faces Arkansas on Oct. 25 on the road.

This will be the third time in recent history the Jayhawks have participated in such a matchup. The most recent was last year, on the road against Illinois, and prior to that in 2017 they played in a neutral site matchup against Missouri. This one is a part of a series of exhibition games CareSource has sponsored, and according to a KU release “proceeds from ticket sales will benefit mental health providers and charities” in each school’s footprint.

Kansas basketball coach Bill Self believes his roster now has the starter-depth he's wanted

“We are excited to be able to go play at Arkansas in an exhibition game and help raise money for a great cause, as the proceeds will go to mental health charities,” KU head coach Bill Self said in a release. “This game will give us a good idea to see where our team is before the season starts. We wanted to play on the road to give us an opportunity to experience what our first road contest will be like as opposed to experiencing it for the first time in the regular season.”

Kansas, which will be donating its proceeds to the Fore The Kids Foundation, will enter the season as one of the favorites for the national championship. Not only does it return a trio of key starters in graduate center Hunter Dickinson, graduate guard Dajuan Harris Jr. and senior forward KJ Adams Jr. It has also added high-profile transfers such as junior guard AJ Storr, junior guard Rylan Griffen and more.

Prior to the exhibition against Arkansas, Kansas will also hold its Late Night in the Phog event on Oct. 18. After the exhibition against Arkansas, Kansas will have a home exhibition Oct. 29 against Washburn. Then, the regular season will begin Nov. 4 at home against Howard.
