What are Kalen DeBoer's keys for Alabama football beating Georgia?
As the matchup with No. 1 Georgia nears, Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer predicted that the Crimson Tide's success against the Bulldogs will come in four distinct areas.
Through three games, Alabama has the No. 6 scoring offense in the country, averaging 49 points and 466.7 yards per game. For DeBoer, his offense's success starts with the Crimson Tide holding onto the football while taking advantage of scoring chances.
"I think we need to take care of the football," DeBoer said Wednesday on the SEC Coaches Teleconference. "They've done an exceptional job of it, having not turned the ball over yet. We got to get the ball in the end zone. Now that's easier said than done because (Georgia) haven't even allowed a touchdown yet. So when you do get those opportunities in the red zone you got to come up with touchdowns."
Defensively, DeBoer said Alabama's success rests on its line's physicality.
"(Georgia's) run game is always going to be a strength and controlling the line of scrimmage is going to be a priority for them," DeBoer said. "So I think that's where it starts with us. And any pressure we can get on Carson Beck, that's going to be critical as well because we know how elite he is, how good of a quarterback he is. And if he has time to sit back there, he's going to find the people to make the throws."
