Juventus draws Roma, extends own record by clinching seventh straight Serie A title
On the whole, Juventus’ draw at AS Roma was rather dull. Fitting, since that’s how Juve has rendered the Serie A title race for seven years now.
The 0-0 tie means Juve is mathematically uncatchable atop the table, which also means the Italian giants extend their own record with a seventh straight top-flight crown.
Roma mustered nine shots but just two on goal, and that’s really all Juventus was looking for. The result meant a four-point gap with one match to play ahead of second-place Napoli, which wound up beating Sampdoria 2-0.
The biggest moment of the match was perhaps a silly second yellow card to Roma’s Radja Nainggolan, whose sending off in the 68th minute all but wrapped up the title:
Not the smartest thing to do! @OfficialRadja does not make contact with the ball during a forced challenge, hitting @PauDybala_JR‘s leg instead. @ASRomaEN will play with 10 men for the rest of this match. #RomaJuve pic.twitter.com/ovHzhna2sD

Juventus extends its own record with a 34th Italian first division title, and looks further ahead of the competition than ever. The club sold its best defender to rival AC Milan last summer yet still made key additions like Douglas Costa, Blaise Matuidi and Benedikt Howedes, and looks better for it.
Milan didn’t even sniff the Champions League, and while Napoli kept the heat on all season long, only four wins since the beginning of March doomed the challengers to second place.
Changes are expected at Juventus this summer, including the retirement of stalwart goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and perhaps the departure of manager Max Allegri to Arsenal, but additions are also expected. So until somebody decides to knock off Juventus, the perch will stay in Torino.
