The New Orleans Saints have been in contact with Justin Simmons for a large part of the offseason and it appears talks are heating up. Simmons came in for a visit on Wednesday.

Pairing Simmons and Tyrann Mathieu in the backend (along with Paulson Adebo and Marshon Lattimore) would give the Saints a strong argument for fielding the best secondary in the NFL.

Simmons and Mathieu would arguably be the best ball-hawking duo in the league. Over the last five years, Simmons has the most interceptions in the league. He's registered 23 picks since 2019 and Mathieu isn't far behind. Mathieu's 20 interceptions are good for third-most in that time frame.

Simmons led the league with six interceptions in 2022 despite only playing 12 games that season. He followed that campaign with three interceptions last year.

In New Orleans, Mathieu tied with Adebo as the team leader in interceptions. Both came down with four a piece. The Saints tied for third most interceptions in the league last year, and that pairing accounted for nearly half of the total.

The safety tandem of Justin Simmons and Tyrann Mathieu would raise the ceiling to the Saints possibly leading the league in interceptions next season.
