Justin Jefferson record NFL contract has Dolphins' Tyreek Hill seeking new deal

The Minnesota Vikings reset the NFL's wide receiver market with a 4-year extension worth $35 million per season on Monday.

That's a total of $140 million, with $110 million guaranteed.

This means Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins is currently the fourth-highest paid receiver in the NFL by average annual salary, according to Spotrac.

Hill averages $30 million to play for the Dolphins.

A.J. Brown of the Eagles makes $32 million per season.

Amon Ra-St. Brown of the Lions makes $30 million and $2,500 per season.

Tyreek Hill contract: What does Hill make with Dolphins?

Hill's 2024 cash is scheduled to be $19.8 million from Miami, with a cap hit of $31.3 million.

HIll's 2025 cash is scheduled to be $22.9 million, with a cap hit of $32.4 million.

There is no way Hill will see the $45 million cash and $56.3 million cap hit in 2026 from the Miami Dolphins.

Why? Miami could escape that with only an $11 million cap hit.

What super agent Drew Rosenhaus says about Tyreek Hill

Agent Drew Rosenhaus and Tyreek Hill would like to work out a new structure with Miami.

But the Dolphins are probably focused on Tua Tagovailoa's pending deal at the moment.

Miami did not restructure Hill's deal when they were likely in more desperate need for salary cap space.

So will they be compelled to give Hill a new deal now?

"It's safe to acknowledge that I've been in touch with Chris Grier and Brandon Shore of the Dolphins," Rosenhaus said on WSVN late Sunday. "I certainly have a fluid line of communication with them. And I've shared with them how Tyreek feels. And I'll also reiterate that Tyreek has said that he would love to finish his career here, with the Dolphins."

This is a bit reminiscent of Miami's past engagement with former cornerback Xavien Howard, who reworked his deal a few teams when he felt he had become underpaid.

He was eventually cut.

But what about Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle?

But the Dolphins just gave Jaylen Waddle an extension worth $28 million per season.

Waddle is 25. Hill is 30.

Do the Dolphins want to commit to Hill beyond 2025?

A new 3-year deal that gives Miami some salary cap flexibility and adds void money might appease Hill and also likely keep him in the fold for a bit longer.

It also should be noted that Hill has made some off-field news in recent times.

Do the Dolphins weigh that when considering giving him more guaranteed money?

Rosenhaus did say he expects Hill to be at mandatory minicamp in Miami Gardens on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
