Julio Jones had the worst drop of the NFL season
Even Julio Jones can’t seem to get on track for the struggling Atlanta Falcons.
In what should have been one of the easiest touchdown catches of his brilliant seven-year career, Jones snuck behind the Carolina Panther defense on a crucial fourth-down play from the Panthers’ 39-yard-line. Matt Ryan bought some extra time and delivered a perfect strike toward the back out of the end zone. Jones however, bobbled the football and came up empty-handed despite being all alone.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, it was Jones’ first dropped pass in the end zone since 2012.
Unfortunately for the defending NFC champion Falcons, the play was indicative of their entire season thus far. The Falcons lost, 20-17, dropping to 4-4 this year.
