Josh Norman penalized for 'shooting bow and arrow'

Here’s a new one: Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman drew a penalty on Sunday for, and we quote, “shooting a bow and arrow.”

Not literally, of course. Shooting a real bow and arrow inside FedEx Field would result in probable criminal prosecution, likely injury to a fan and perhaps a one-game suspension from the NFL. No, Norman got popped for 15 yards for miming a bow-and-arrow shot under the NFL’s increasingly rigid, and increasingly annoying, rules against any kind of free player expression that might hurt any other player’s feelings or appear less than insurance-agency-level professional.

Norman channeled his inner Katniss after making an interception that effectively iced the game for Washington. Afterward, ol’ Hawkeye Norman heard about how Julio Jones had torched the secondary of his former team, the Panthers: “I’m just gonna sip my tea on that one.” (For the non-meme-savvy: It means he’s not going to comment because everyone knows what he would, and perhaps should, say.)
