Josh Gordon is active and will make debut with Patriots
Almost two weeks after being traded from Cleveland to the Patriots, Josh Gordon will make his debut with New England on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Gordon is active, hamstring is better
Inactives for each game are reported 90 minutes before kickoff, and Gordon’s name was not on the Patriots’ list, meaning he’ll at least be in uniform for the 1 p.m. ET contest with the current AFC East leaders.
Earlier Sunday there were reports that if Gordon wasn’t active it would be more because of his hamstring injury than his understanding of the playbook.
ESPN’s Jeff Darlington tweeted that midway through the week, “there was skepticism” that Gordon would play. But as the week went on it became more likely, so clearly there was improvement with his understanding of the playbook.
NFLN’s Michael Giardi tweeted that the Patriots are “confident with Gordon’s grasp” of the game plan.
Patriots need Gordon
The Patriots certainly need Gordon; through three games, their longest pass play is just 30 yards, and Cordarrelle Patterson hasn’t exactly panned out as a big-play receiver (at least not yet).
Gordon allegedly suffered a hamstring injury earlier this month during a promotional shoot, though there have been few details on how and what that happened. It was essentially the final straw for the Browns, who had stuck by him through numerous suspensions.
