Johni Broome becomes fourth player named first team All-SEC under Bruce Pearl at Auburn
AUBURN — Samir Doughty, Walker Kessler, Jabari Smith Jr. and now Johni Broome.
Only those four Auburn basketball players have been named first team All-SEC under coach Bruce Pearl. Broome's honor was made official Monday afternoon, with the conference announcing its end-of-season awards. Jaylin Williams was named second team All-SEC and former five-star recruit Aden Holloway was included on the All-Freshman squad.
Broome also earned an All-Defensive team distinction, though he was beaten out for Defensive Player of the Year by Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler.
The Tigers finished the regular season with 24 wins, the fifth most in program history. It's the sixth time in the last seven seasons the Tigers have won at least 20 games before the postseason started.
Auburn will play in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday (2:30 p.m. CT, ESPN). Their opponent will be South Carolina, Arkansas or Vanderbilt.
