John Force injury update: NHRA legend says he plans to attend Las Vegas race

John Force is back at work and as talkative as ever.

The 75-year-old NHRA legend posted a message to fans Thursday, saying he's back at work as he continues his recovery from the traumatic brain injury he suffered in a massive crash in late June.

"Boy, am I glad to be here after that crash in Richmond," said the 16-time Funny Car champion.

"I'm still working every day to get my body back in shape, but I've got to get my mind back in shape. I took a pretty big hit in that crash at Richmond," Force said, adding that he has been through months of recovery and rehabilitation in the Richmond, Virginia, area and Phoenix.

He wore a soft cast on his right wrist in the video.

Force said he hopes his doctors give him the go-ahead to attend the NHRA event Las Vegas on Halloween weekend. He's eager to see Austin Prock, Brittany Force and Jack Beckman ("He's full of it more than me.") race.

He sent a thank you to fans ("You've been really good to me at a hard time”) and highlighted his daughters and fellow NHRA star Robert Hight for leading his recovery.

"It was a scary time for them. Not for me," Force said. "I didn't have a clue where I was at."
