Joel Embiid forgot to remove the tag from his shorts before the Skills Challenge

It’s Joel Embiid’s world and we’re just living in it.

At 7-foot-2 and 250-plus pounds, the Philadelphia 76ers big man is one of the NBA’s most unique players and he put his varied skillset on display in the Skills Challenge at NBA All-Star Saturday Night. He was able to best Al Horford of the Boston Celtics in the first round, but got more attention for something involving his wardrobe.

Embiid forgot to remove the tag from his shorts.

Too funny.

Embiid’s shenanigans didn’t end there. He competed against Lauri Markkanen in the second round and the two were neck and neck all the way up the the last portion of the contest — a three-point shot. Or so we thought.

At the passing portion, Markkanen calmly got the ball through the hoop on his first try. It looked like Embiid did, too, but he missed.

He either did not want to fall too far behind Markkanen, or he genuinely thought he converted the pass. If Markkanen was unable to knock down the three-pointer and Embiid won, there would have been some controversy. But that never materialized and Markkanen advanced to the finals against Brooklyn’s Spencer Dinwiddie.

Dinwiddie took home the win for the guards, halting a two-year winning streak for the big men in the event.
