Before Week 3 of the 2024 season gets underway, the NFL announced 167 former players that have been nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2025. Of the 167 players, 16 players were nominated in their first year of eligibility. Former 49ers Joe Staley, Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker are included in the first-year nominations. All three players retired in the 2019 season.
Thirteen other former 49ers were nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 2025 class. Quarterback Eli Manning, running back Marshan Lynch and kicker Adam Vinatieri are also first-time nominees.
In October, the Hall of Fame committee will cut the list of nominees from 167 players to 50. Folliowing the move to 50, the committee will slash the list down to 25 semifinalists. The list will then be narrowed down to 15 finalists. The selection committee will then vote for five players to elected into the Hall of Fame.
