Joe Mixon on Bengals: 'leave them where they’re at'
Former Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon just popped off in his debut with the Houston Texans.
Then he had some thoughts about the Bengals in the aftermath.
Inevitably asked about the Bengals and whether he'd like to play against his former team this season, Mixon said the following, per Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio:
“No,” Mixon said. “I don’t, actually.”
Why not?
“Because I just wanna leave them where they’re at, just like where they left me, man,” Mixon said.
No matter how Mixon really meant it, fans will read into it however negatively they want.
Mixon spent seven productive years in Cincinnati after being a second-round pick, then just went and posted 159 yards and a score on a 5.3 average in his Texans debut.
Cincinnati was ready to move the backfield in a different direction as early as 2022, but Mixon took a pay cut to stay for 2023. Now, it seems like he's found a better fit and the Bengals are off doing their own thing with Zack Moss and Chase Brown, too.
