Who is Jeff Lebby? Mississippi State hires Oklahoma offensive coordinator as Bulldogs coach
Mississippi State football opens its doors to the 36th head coach in the program's history, Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby, the team announced Sunday.
He spent the past two seasons with the Sooners and was the offensive coordinator at Ole Miss for two years before that.
MSU fired Zach Arnett on Nov. 13, with two games left in the regular season. Arnett had been named coach in December 2022 after the sudden death of Mike Leach.
The Bulldogs, who named offensive analyst Greg Knox as interim coach for the last two games, finished the season 5-7 overall and 1-7 in the SEC.

Jeff Lebby's coaching history
Lebby's college coaching arc kicked off in Oklahoma in 2002 after he suffered a career-ending injury. He stayed on as a student assistant with the Sooners, who also had graduate assistant Josh Heupel on staff.
From 2008 to 2016, Lebby served multiple positions at Baylor, including passing game coordinator and running backs coach. In 2018, Heupel, the head coach at UCF, hired Lebby to be quarterbacks coach and eventually offensive coordinator.

In 2020, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin hired Lebby to be the quarterbacks coach, then offensive coordinator. Lebby moved to Oklahoma in 2022.

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Lebby has agreed to five-year deal with the Bulldogs.

Jeff Lebby's age
The new Mississippi State coach is 39 and will turn 40 on Jan. 5. Lebby grew up in McGregor, 90 miles north of Austin, Texas.

Lebby was an offensive lineman at Andrews High School, where he was an all-state selection in his senior year before signing with Oklahoma.
