Jazz sign Suns center Drew Eubanks to two-year deal

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – Jazz CEO Danny Ainge vowed to make a big splash this off-season by going “big game hunting,” but their first free agent signing was more of a ripple.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Jazz have agreed to a two-year, $10-million deal with Phoenix Suns free agent center/power forward Drew Eubanks.

Eubanks is expected to fill the role of Omer Yurtseven, who will be waived by the Jazz.

Last season with the Suns, Eubanks (6-10, 245 pounds) averaged 5.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 15.6 minutes. He is expected to back up Walker Kessler and compete with second round draft pick Kyle Filipowski for minutes next season.

Eubanks is a six-year NBA veteran, having played with the San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix. He has career averages of 5.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
