‘Jayson Tatum for MVP,’ says Hall of Fame Celtics big man Kevin Garnett
Hall of Fame Boston Celtics big man alumnus Kevin Garnett famously raised more than a few eyebrows by not including the team he won an NBA title with in 2008 to make his top four teams in the league’s Eastern Conference for the 2022-23 season but has since changed his tune with superstar Boston forward Jayson Tatum being the main reason why.
“Jayson Tatum for MVP,” said The Big Ticket in a recent clip he posted to Twitter. “He’s playing unbelievable.” Noting that the St. Louis native and his Celtics have been doing much better than he had expected. “Everything I had a question mark with Boston, they’ve taken that and kicked it out the window.”
“We knew Jayson Tatum could score with the best, but I see this year, he’s taken another step,” added KG. “In the last four or five games, I’ve seen his defensive efforts to be a lot greater than what I’ve seen.”

“He seems to be a lot more locked in on both ends, and he’s playing like a top-five player,” continued Garnett. “He’s popcorn basketball — you pay to go see Ja (Morant), Luka (Doncic) — JT is in that same category.”
“He’s coming into his own, he’s coming into his young stardom; I love everything about his play, and everything he’s doing right now. His growth to me is how the Boston Celtics are going to grow and grow.”
