Jaren Jackson Jr. undergoes surgery on right foot, expected to miss 4 to 6 months
Jaren Jackson Jr. underwent surgery Wednesday because of a stress fracture in his right foot, according to the Memphis Grizzlies. He's expected to miss four to six months.
The 6-foot-11, 242-pound power forward played a career-high 78 games in 2021-22. His previous high in games played was 58. He often spoke last season about how big of an achievement it was to have a fully healthy season.
The recovery timeline makes it unlikely that Jackson returns by the beginning of next season.
Foot injuries can be problematic for big men, so the Grizzlies may opt to err on the side of caution. The Grizzlies draftedJake LaRavia and David Roddy, who can both play power forward. Brandon Clarke also played stretches at the position last season.
