Jameson Williams' 42-yard touchdown gives Detroit Lions early lead vs. 49ers in NFC championship
The Detroit Lions’ first NFC championship game appearance in a generation started off with a bang.
On the fourth play of the game’s opening drive, wide receiver Jameson Williams took a pitch from quarterback Jared Goff on an end-around and sliced through the San Francisco 49ers defense on his way to a 42-yard touchdown scamper.
The run was the longest of Williams’ two-year NFL career.
Heading into Sunday’s matchup, Williams, the No. 12 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Alabama, had just three carries for 29 yards this season.
The touchdown gave the Lions a 7-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game. Detroit is trying to make the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
