Jameis Winston gives powerful interview after FSU QB Jordan Travis suffers brutal injury

Florida State legend Jameis Winston was on-hand for Jordan Travis' horrific leg injury Saturday, which saw the Seminole quarterback taken off in an ambulance .

Travis, who has been at the helm of a Florida State team looking to make the College Football Playoff for the first time since Winston led the Seminoles to the 2015 Rose Bowl, was putting together a sensational season. He had completed 64.1% of his passes for 2,734 yards, 20 touchdowns, and two interceptions heading into the Week 12 matchup with North Alabama.

What did Jameis Winston say about Jordan Travis injury?

When Winston was interviewed on the Florida State sideline after Travis' injury, he took the time to laud Travis and wish him well.

"I just wanna continue to encourage him to stay resilient, and encourage him to persevere," Winston said on the sidelines. "I think he's the epitome of that with his journey in his college football career. He was having one of the best years of anybody in college football man. And I'm grateful to be rocking his jersey. With the significance of his number. With us winning the championship in 2013 and him being one of the best quarterbacks this year man."

Winston continued:

"I just want to continue to lift him up. And just say 'keep your head up, stand firm, be strong and courageous. Like the Lord has a plan for you that no man, nobody can ever even imagine. So just stay resilient.' And he has done that. So I know that to him and his family I just wanna pray for his family and their well -- he's gonna be fine. I know he will."

Winston was, of course, referring to the FSU team that won the last-ever BCS National Championship in the 2013-14 season, hence the added significance to Travis' No. 13. Winston was at the helm of that team and also won the 2013 Heisman Trophy.

Travis, a transfer from Louisville, is in his sixth season and final year of eligibility with Florida State.
