Jaguars report injuries to six starters vs. Packers
This story was updated to include new information.
The Jaguars were bludgeoned by injuries in their 30-27, near-comeback of a loss to the Green Bay Packers in Jacksonville on Sunday.
Now 2-6 on the season, the rest of the Jaguars' year could look even more bleak as more than a handful of starters went down hurt throughout the contest, with severities currently unclear.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson did not offer updates for any injured players after the game, noting that he had not yet spoken with Jacksonville's vice president of player health and performance Jeff Ferguson.
"Yeah, on the injuries guys, I don't know. I haven't talked to Ferg yet, I came straight in here," Pederson said. "So I'll probably have something later or know more tomorrow when I get the updates."
Jaguars Wire compiled Jacksonville's Week 8 injuries as reported by the Jaguars below.
Injuries are listed chronologically as reported by the Jaguars. Players who appeared to get hurt but did not have an injury reported by Jacksonville are excluded.
CB Ronald Darby (hip)
Starting cornerback Ronald Darby suffered a hip injury in the first quarter and did not appear to re-enter the game, as third-year Jaguars defensive back Montaric Brown stepped in opposite starter Tyson Campbell and finished the game with four tackles including two for loss.
Darby did not record a statistic in the game. He has 34 total tackles with three for loss and five defended passes over eight starts this season, his first with the Jaguars.
WR Gabe Davis (shoulder)
Starting wide receiver Gabe Davis went down with a shoulder injury in the middle of the second quarter and did not appear to return to action. He was not targeted on Sunday.
It is unclear which shoulder Davis injured. He previously nursed a shoulder injury between Weeks 4-5.
Davis has logged 18 receptions for 217 yards and two touchdowns over eight starts in his first season with the Jaguars.
RG Brandon Scherff (knee)
Starting right guard Brandon Scherff suffered a knee injury late second quarter but returned and finished the game.
Scherff has made 41 consecutive starts since signing with the Jaguars in 2022. He previously had not played a full season since 2016.
LG Ezra Cleveland (ankle)
Jacksonville saw both of its starting guards go down hurt Sunday. While Scherff was able to finish the game, left guard Ezra Cleveland could not after injuring his ankle late in the third quarter. Second-year Jaguars lineman Cooper Hodges finished the matchup in Cleveland's place.
Cleveland has started eight games this season and 12 out of 16 the games he has played with the Jaguars since Jacksonville acquired him in a trade with Minnesota last year.
WR Brian Thomas Jr. (chest)
A 14-yard touchdown catch by rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. gave Jacksonville its only lead over Green Bay on Sunday, a crucial moment with 5:10 left in the third quarter. But excitement for Thomas was quickly sucked out of the stadium when it was revealed he hurt his chest during the play, leading him to exit the game.
Thomas finished with three receptions for 60 yards and one touchdown against Green Bay, bringing his rookie season totals to 33 catches for 573 yards and five touchdowns.
WR Christian Kirk (shoulder)
Starting slot receiver Christian Kirk was quickly ruled out for the remainder of Week 8 after injuring his shoulder as he attempted to catch a deep pass on 3rd and 11 with 13:17 left in the fourth quarter. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday night that Kirk suffered a season-ending broken left collarbone.
Kirk caught two passes for 59 yards against the Packers and has logged 27 receptions for 379 yards and one touchdown this year.
