IU's Malik Reneau leaves floor on crutches after apparent lower-leg injury vs. Iowa

BLOOMINGTON – Sophomore forward Malik Reneau, Indiana’s leading scorer at 16.7 points per game, exited Tuesday’s game against Iowa with an apparent lower-leg injury. Reneau eventually left the Assembly Hall floor on crutches, team trainer Tim Garl trailing behind him.

Reneau sustained the injury when he appeared to have his foot or ankle stepped on by Iowa’s Ben Krikke. Reneau fell to the ground near IU’s bench and eventually had to be helped off the floor.

After several minutes in the tunnel nearest the home bench, Reneau emerged briefly and sat down near Garl. Reneau looked visibly distressed and in pain.

Shortly afterward, Garl provided Reneau crutches and walked him back to the Hoosiers’ locker room.

In addition to his team-leading points average, Reneau averages 6.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Both numbers are second best on his team.
