Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to rely on Marcus Thuram, hoping the Frenchman extends his stellar record against Roma.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that Thuram has come up against Roma four times, winning three of those matches and scoring three goals.

Thuram has powered Inter’s attack at the start of the Serie A season.

The 27-year-old has found the back of the net seven times in seven matches.

This came in the form of braces against Genoa and Atalanta, and then a decisive hattrick against Torino.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez, by contrast, has yet to find his best scoring form. But that has not been a problem with Thuram playing at the level he has been.

And Inzaghi has full faith that Thuram will keep his blistering start to the season going against Roma.

The Frenchman had a relatively quiet break. He only came off the bench once for France during the international break as he was recovering from a bit of an ankle knock.

But Thuram has shaken off that ankle problem, and has rested up.

Therefore, the 27-year-old should be well-positioned to pick right back up where he left off.

And Thuram will be facing an opponent who he’s already quite familiar with.

The Corriere note that Thuram has come up against Roma twice with Borussia Monchengladbach and twice with Inter.

Three of those matches saw the Frenchman on the winning side.

Thuram has already scored three goals against the Giallorossi. And furthermore, he has also forced an own goal from the team.

Last season, Thuram proved to be decisive for Inter against Roma. He scored the only goal in a 1-0 meeting in the first Serie A meeting between the two sides.

And Inzaghi expects the Frenchman to have a similar impact this time out as well.
