INDIANAPOLIS – Rookie IndyCar driver Nolan Siegel suffered the first crash of Fast Friday practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Around 1:38 p.m. ET, Siegel was in Turn 2 as he lost control of his No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda. The car turned backward and slid down the wall before flipping over. The car flipped 200 to 300 feet down the track, the Peacock broadcast estimated. Siegel exited the car with no injuries.

“I don’t know exactly what happened,” Siegel said. “Got a little loose at the apex, got high, spun, hit the wall. It was an unfortunate angle that got me airborne and upside down. So I’ll look into it more and maybe have an answer later, but for now, not exactly sure what happened, so we’ll see.”
Siegel has a backup car to use for Indianapolis 500 qualifying this weekend. Siegel said there were no concerns with the main car heading into the week.
The 19-year-old sits 30th in the 2024 IndyCar standings with 10 points. His fastest lap in Thursday’s practice session was at 220.904 mph, which ranked 33rd. Friday, his time of 229.813 mph was 30th.
