Indianapolis Colts draft picks 2021: Round-by-round selections
Here is a 2021 NFL draft pick-by-pick breakdown for the Indianapolis Colts:
Round 1 (No. 21 overall) - Kwity Paye, DE, Michigan: GM Chris Ballard goes pass rusher, Paye apparently replacing free agent Justin Houston, rather than addressing a hole at left tackle following Anthony Castonzo's retirement. Paye (6-3, 261) is an explosive athlete who played all along the line for the Wolverines and even dropped into coverage. He had 12½ tackles for losses and 6½ sacks in 2019, though that production could spike if he's in a more narrowly focused role alongside All-Pro DT DeForest Buckner in Indy. Draft tracker
Round 2 (54) - Dayo Odeyingbo, DE, Vanderbilt: He's coming off an Achilles injury but had 5½ sacks in eight games last year. If the Colts are lucky, Odeyingbo and first-rounder Kwity Paye could be the new Dwight Freeney-Robert Mathis combo for the 2020s. Draft tracker
Round 4 (127) - Kylen Granson, TE, SMU
Round 5 (165) - Shawn Davis, S, Florida
Round 6 (218, from Saints, compensatory) - Sam Ehlinger, QB, Texas
Round 7 (229, from Jaguars through Saints) - Mike Strachan, WR, Charleston
Round 7 (248) - Will Fries, OT, Penn State
