Indiana basketball recruiting: Derik Queen picks Maryland
Indiana basketball misses out on a coveted recruit as post player Derik Queen announced Wednesday he had committed to Maryland.
Queen, the No. 12 Class of 2024 recruit nationally according to 247 Sports, is a Montverde Academy teammate of IU commit Liam McNeeley (No. 15). The 6-10 Queen averages 16.7 points and 7.8 rebounds for one of the nation's flagship prep school teams.
The Hoosiers will be looking for a post presence if Kel'el Ware leaves after this season. Sophomore power forward Malik Reneau also came from Montverde.
Daquan Davis, a 6-1 guard for Overtime Elite and No. 77 player nationally, is believed to favor Providence, though IU remains a possibility.
