Indiana basketball gets a bye in 2024 Big Ten tournament

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball's four-game win streak to close out the regular season propelled the program to the No. 6 seed in this year's Big Ten tournament.

The Hoosiers (18-13) won, 65-64, over Michigan State on Sunday afternoon.

They will face the winner of No. 11 Penn State vs. No. 14 Michigan on Thursday night at the Target Center in the tournament's final second round game. It will tipoff 25 minutes after No. 7 Iowa and No. 10 Ohio State play at 6:30 p.m.

Indiana has lost four straight to Penn State and was eliminated from last year's Big Ten Tournament by the Nittany Lions. The Hoosiers won their lone regular season matchup 78-75 against Michigan when it visited Ann Arbor back in December.

The Wolverines finished 8-23 after losing eight in a row and 13 of their last 14 games. They finished last in the Big Ten for the first time since 1967 and set a program record with 23 losses.

Indiana would face No. 3 Nebraska on Friday night if it advances.
