CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – Illinois women’s basketball is 1-0, opening the 2024-25 season with a ranked win.

The Illini beat No. 19 Florida State, 83-74, in their first game of the regular season. Makira Cook and Adalia McKenzie each scored 20 points for the Orange and Blue. Shauna Green’s team was boosted by a 20-10 lead after the first quarter.

Illinois returns to action on Sunday, staying home to take on Marquette at 7 p.m.
