Igor Shesterkin Expected To Start Against Red Wings, Matt Rempe Will Be Healthy Scratch

Igor Shesterkin is set to start in net tonight for the New York Rangers against the Detroit Red Wings.

Shesterkin was the first goalie off the ice during morning skate on Monday, indicating that he will get the start.

The 28-year-old goaltender played in the two other regular season games for the Rangers as he’s yet to take a night off.

Through the first two games, Shesterkin has recorded a 2.90 goals against average and .895 save percentage.

Meanwhile, Matt Rempe is expected to be a healthy scratch for the second time in three games with Jonny Brodzinski taking his place.

Rempe was not in the lineup for the Rangers’ season opener while he played just 3:40 minutes in the team’s 6-5 loss to the Utah Hockey Club.

In the season opener, Brodzinski tallied 9:52 minutes and had an assist on top of that.
