In order to watch the much anticipated Aug. 26 bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, viewers will have to spend $99.95 for the high-definition version pay-per-view broadcast or $89.95 for the standard-definition version, according to Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times.

UFC president Dana White citied the unique nature of the fight to justify the price point. Most UFC fans are used to paying $59.99 for pay-per-view. Mayweather-Pacquiao in 2015 was also priced at $99.

“When you talk about superfights, this is a superfight – two different guys from two different sports going in and putting it on the line,” White said. “Obviously, you can’t charge what you would normally charge for a pay-per-view. And saying there was pushback on the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, there was anything but – it’s the biggest fight ever in the history of pay-per-view.”

Per ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the fight projects to bring in $475 million in pay-per-view sales. This figure would best the $455 million in pay-per-view sales from the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight from May 2015.

Tammy Ross, who is the former senior vice president of HBO PPV, predicted that Mayweather-McGregor would cost the same on PPV as Mayweather-Pacquiao.

“I think we thought that there wasn’t going to be anything like that fight again, but if there was, it would be this one,” Ross told Rovell. “That’s why I think they should put out the $100 price tag again and let Conor’s mouth do the talking.”
