Hector Herrera puts Porto on track for title with dramatic 90th-minute winner (Video)
On a day when multiple league titles were decided with five games to spare, European soccer was in desperate need of top-of-the-table drama. Thanks to Mexican international Hector Herrera, it got it.
The Portuguese Primeira Liga is one of just a few top-flight leagues still undecided heading into the season’s final month. And Sunday’s first-vs.-second clash between Porto and Benfica didn’t disappoint.
It didn’t decide the title. But it did swing the race from Lisbon to Porto. And oh, boy, did it offer up drama:

Herrera won the match with a stunning strike in the 90th minute to take Porto from one point behind Benfica to two points in front.
With just four matches remaining, he put the title race in Porto’s hands. Porto victories over Setubal, Maritimo, Feirense and Guimaraes would leave Benfica helpless in second place.
And Herrera surely knew the gravity of his goal. He tugged off his shirt in celebration. He held it up to the silenced Benfica fans after being mobbed by teammates. He might have just won Porto its first Portuguese league championship since 2012-13.
