Ja Morant didn't wait for the game to come to him on Thursday night. The Memphis Grizzlies star was in attack mode from opening tip, aggressively looking to score without his sharpshooting backcourt mate Desmond Bane in the lineup.

Morant picked up the scoring slack and also didn't forget to keep his teammates involved. He secured his 12th career triple-double four minutes into the third quarter, and the Grizzlies were in control.

Behind its point guard, Memphis jumped ahead of Milwaukee early and stayed in control. The Grizzlies defeated the Bucks 122-99 on Thursday night at FedExForum.

Morant finished with 26 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds.

Memphis played strong defense on Milwaukee by taking away the options around superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. While Antetokounmpo put up 37 points and 11 rebounds, no other Bucks player had more than 12 points. All-Star point guard Damian Lillard struggled and was held to 1-for-12 shooting.

This was the exact performance Memphis (3-3) needed after two letdowns earlier in the week. Those previous losses combined with the absences of Bane and Marcus Smart for the first time this season put Memphis in a tough spot.

In addition to a solid performance from Jaren Jackson Jr., rookies Zach Edey and Jaylen Wells played admirably as starters.

The Grizzlies will now head on the road for a matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
