Recap: Vince Williams Jr., Scotty Pippen Jr. shine as Grizzlies upset Heat for road win

Down eight players, the Memphis Grizzlies were undeterred.

With contributions from across their available players, the Grizzlies pulled out an upset 105-96 win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night at the Kaseya Center. Vince Williams Jr. was outstanding, leading the way with 25 points, while GG Jackson added 17 off the bench.

It was the second-straight win for the Grizzlies, who will head back to Memphis having gone 2-2 on what projected as a difficult road trip. Memphis has won five of seven away from FedExForum, even as the team’s injury woes have continued to mount.

It wasn’t an easy win. The Grizzlies opened up a lead in the third quarter, but the Heat fought back down the stretch and it was close in the final minutes. Memphis got enough to pull out the win, thanks to Williams and a major contribution from newly-signed Scotty Pippen Jr (15 points).

John Konchar had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaren Jackson Jr. had 15 points.

The Grizzlies are back at home to face the Orlando Magic on Friday.

Grizzlies hoping to close out road trip with win

The Memphis Grizzlies will conclude their four-game road trip in Miami on Wednesday.

The Grizzlies snapped a two-game skid with a win Monday in Toronto, getting back on track with a win after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls. They'll play the Heat before returning to Memphis to take on the Orlando Magic on Friday at FedExForum.

And they'll go into Wednesday's game with a familiar problem — injuries. Eight players are already ruled out, while Luke Kennard was added to the injury report on Wednesday morning and is questionable with right thigh soreness.

Memphis has struggled without star point guard Ja Morant and others but has been mostly competitive over the past few games.

The Heat (24-19) have lost three games in a row. Terry Rozier, who was acquired in a trade with the Hornets earlier this week, could make his Miami debut on Wednesday.
