Memphis Grizzlies' GG Jackson won't play Monday vs Pelicans for 'violation of a team rule'
Rookie forward GG Jackson will miss Monday's Memphis Grizzlies game against the New Orleans Pelicans at FedExForum for a "violation of a team rule," coach Taylor Jenkins said before the game.
Jenkins did not go into specifics but announced that Jackson would be inactive while going through other injury updates.
Jackson has played a prominent role for the Grizzlies the past few weeks as the team has dealt with a litany of injuries, and he has been asked to handle more of the scoring load. The second-round pick has scored in double figures in his past four games, including a 27-point performance off the bench Feb. 8 against the Chicago Bulls, when he became the youngest player to reach that total since Kobe Bryant.
"I just try to be as professional as possible," Jackson said after the loss to the Bulls last week. "Earlier in the year, I had a meeting with (Grizzlies GM Zach Kleiman) because I had got fined, I think it was my fourth one in like two months...He gave me the rundown and everything, and since then I've been on my Ps and Qs and I feel like those off the court things also translate to on the court performance."
Jackson's improvement earned him a four-year NBA contract right after that game. He had been playing on a two-way deal he signed after being drafted in 2023. He began the season playing mostly with the Memphis Hustle in the G League.
Jenkins said he expects Jackson to be back in the fold for Wednesday's game against the Rockets.
