Great Crossing, LexCath lead boys basketball media poll, which features new top-15 member
Eleventh Region rivals Great Crossing and Lexington Catholic kept the top two spots in this week’s Kentucky High School Boys Basketball Media Poll.
Great Crossing (23-1) received all 16 first-place votes and was followed by Lexington Catholic (22-2), Newport (22-3), Trinity (18-5) and Lyon County (21-3) in the top five.
Frederick Douglass (16-6) joined the poll at No. 14 after knocking off Harlan County, 79-69, on Saturday. Woodford County dropped out of the top 15.
The Kentucky High School Boys Basketball Media Poll is conducted by 16 sports journalists — one from each of the state’s 16 basketball regions. The poll will be released each week throughout the regular season.
Along with the statewide top 15, voters will provide top-five rankings for their respective regions.
