Great Crossing keeps unanimous No. 1 spot in Kentucky High School Basketball Media Poll
With a 14-game winning streak, the Great Crossing High School boys basketball team continued its reign over the Kentucky High School Basketball Media Poll.
The Warhawks (26-1) once again received all 16 first-place votes in this week’s poll. Great Crossing is 21-0 against Kentucky competition this season, with its only loss coming to Virginia’s Bishop O’Connell, 77-74 in double overtime, on Dec. 30 in the championship game of the Beach Ball Classic.
Lexington Catholic (24-2) remained No. 2 in the poll and was followed by Newport (24-3), Trinity (20-5) and Lyon County (23-3) in the top five.
Woodford County (21-5) joined the poll at No. 14, and Bryan Station fell out.
The Kentucky High School Basketball Media Poll is conducted by 16 sports journalists — one from each of the state’s 16 basketball regions. The final poll will be released Feb. 26.
Along with the statewide top 15, voters will provide top-five rankings for their respective regions.
