Giants reportedly land Michael Conforto, Taylor Rogers on $36M, $33M deals after Carlos Correa saga
The San Francisco Giants lost out on Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa, but the team isn't standing still. San Francisco reportedly made two additions Friday in outfielder Michael Conforto and left-hander Taylor Rogers.
The news comes after the Giants briefly appeared to be on the verge of landing “Arson” Judge earlier this month and then saw a 13-year, $350 million deal with Carlos Correa fall through this week.
The Giants were scheduled to have a news conference Tuesday, presumably to introduce the franchise shortstop. Instead, they postponed the event several hours before it was set to take place, reportedly due to something they questioned in Correa’s physical.
Correa’s agent, Scott Boras, told the San Francisco Chronicle that the Giants indicated they still wanted to negotiate with Correa but never did. And suddenly, the shortstop agreed to terms on a smaller deal with the New York Mets.
Giants have been eyeing Conforto since last offseason
Conforto and the Giants reportedly agreed to a two-year, $36 million deal on Friday, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

The former New York Met is represented by Boras and reportedly had San Francisco’s attention last offseason. Conforto is a former first-round draft pick with three seasons of at least 27 home runs and an OPS of 124. In 2021, however, he hit 14 homers and recorded an OPS+ of 100. Still, that season, he had a .344 OBP.
He rejected the Mets’ $18.4 million qualifying offer last offseason and did not sign before the lockout.
The Giants weren’t able to pursue the 29-year-old because he went on to have surgery on his right shoulder in April and missed the season. He also had a left-shoulder surgery earlier in his career.
The Giants' agreement with Conforto is pending a physical.
Reuniting Rogers with his twin in San Francisco
The Giants also reportedly agreed Friday on a three-year, $33 million contract with Taylor Rogers, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

After his twin brother was acquired by the San Diego Padres earlier this year, Giants reliever Tyler joked that the NL West had become "the best-looking division in baseball." Now, the two will reunite in the San Francisco bullpen.
Taylor finished with a 4.76 ERA and 84:19 K:BB ratio over 64 1/3 innings with the Padres and Milwaukee Brewers in 2022.
His agreement is also pending a physical.
