Giants open preseason with impressive 14-3 win over Lions
The New York Giants opened their 2024 preseason schedule with a 14-3 victory against the 2023 NFC runner-up Detroit Lions on a rainy Thursday night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The teams, who had brawled repeatedly during their two days of joint practices earlier in the week, put whatever animosities they held behind them and played a fairly uneventful game.
Both teams sat the majority of their starters in a low-scoring affair that left Giant fans both wet and hopeful.
Final score: Giants 14, Lions 3
Keys to the game

Quarterback Drew Lock left the game with 2:03 remaining in the first quarter after injuring his hip and was replaced by Tommy DeVito. General manager Joe Schoen said on the air that Lock was fine and could have returned to the game if needed.
Defensive lineman Ryder Anderson had his hand/wrist evaluated by the medical staff on the sideline early in the second half and then went to the locker room for X-rays.
Dyontae Johnson left the game with a bruised ankle, got it checked in the locker room, and then returned to the field.
What's next?
