Giannis Antetokounmpo welcomes new Bucks coach Adrian Griffin to family featuring cute photo of son

It didn't take Adrian Griffin long to start building a relationship with Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family.

Days after being introduced as the Milwaukee Bucks' head coach, Griffin flew out to Greece to spend time with his star player. Antetokounmpo, along with Bucks second-year player MarJon Beauchamp, is training in Greece during the early part of the summer.

Antetokounmpo is expected to play in the FIBA World Cup for Greece later this summer, along with brothers Thanasis and Kostas.

Antetokounmpo shared a photo on his social media accounts Wednesday of Griffin having fun with his youngest son, Maverick, on a basketball court in Greece.

The tweet included a message from Antetokounmpo: "Welcome to the family coach."

Griffin replied on Twitter to Antetokounmpo's tweet, saying he's "extremely honored to be part of the familia!!"

Besides being on the court together, Griffin and Antetokounmpo took in a game this week during the Greek League Finals.

Griffin was hired by the Bucks earlier this month to replace Mike Budenholzer, who was fired after five seasons and a first-round playoff loss to the eighth-seeded Miami Heat this past season.

Antetokounmpo wasn't one of the several players on hand at GATHER in the Deer District when Griffin was officially introduced as the Bucks' new head coach on June 6.

However, he and Griffin had met before during the interview process and chatted about their goals.

"I can tell you, I left the conversation in awe," Griffin said of Antetokounmpo. "He was very humble. He was very hungry."

Griffin will likely be in awe of Antetokounmpo's workout regime that he has become known for over the years.

Antetokounmpo has posted several images on his Twitter account in recent days that showcase he's been hitting the gym. His message was clear: he's doing this for his family.

Antetokounmpo and his partner, Mariah Riddlesprigger, announced this offseason that they are expecting a third child.

Antetokounmpo is entering his 11th season with the Bucks in 2023 and will try to lead the team back to the top of the NBA. He'll look to build on a season in which he posted a career-high 31.1 points per game, earned his fourth straight first-team all-NBA honor, finished third in the MVP voting and started the All-Star Game for a seventh straight time, a new franchise record.
