Germie Bernard: Alabama football 'shut up' Wisconsin's weak-(bleep) Jump Around tradition

Alabama football seemingly had two goals entering into its nonconference game at Wisconsin.

The first: beat Wisconsin, which the Crimson Tide did in a 42-10 romp Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.

The second? Silence Wisconsin's fourth quarter tradition "Jump Around." That's how Crimson Tide wide receiver Germie Bernard sees it, anyway.

"We was ready to shut that weak-ass jump song down," Bernard told media members at Camp Randall Stadium after the game, according to ESPN.

The offending song is House of Pain's 1992 hit song "Jump Around." A normal song to most, "Jump Around" serves as a soundtrack of Wisconsin football and is one of several game day traditions at Badgers home games. It is played heading into the fourth of football games and often sends Camp Randall into a frenzy.

A frenzy, and tradition, that Alabama took ownership of with the game out of reach Saturday.

Bernard, a 6-foot-1 wide receiver, is among the players who followed Kalen DeBoer from Washington to Alabama in the transfer portal. Through three games with the Crimson Tide, Bernard has eight receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown. He finished the Wisconsin game with three catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Alabama (3-0) has a bye set for next Saturday before a showdown with No. 1 Georgia at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sept. 28 (6:30 p.m. CT).
