Georgia's DeAndre Baker drops ball at goal line after INT, gets bailed out by teammate
When will players learn to hold onto the ball until they cross the goal line?
Georgia’s DeAndre Baker became the latest player to drop the ball in celebration before he actually scored a touchdown. Baker intercepted South Carolina QB Jake Bentley off a drop by Rico Dowdle and sprinted towards the end zone. But he let go of the ball right before he crossed the goal line.
Thankfully Baker got bailed out by his teammate Juwan Taylor, who had the presence of mind to pick the ball up in the end zone to ensure the touchdown.
Players dropping the ball before scoring is a phenomenon that happens all too frequently, much to the dismay of coaching staffs around the country. We can only hope this scourge will stop sometime soon, though it does provide some entertaining moments for unbiased observers.
