Gear flies off the shelves at the second Chiefs Locker Room Sale

Gear flies off the shelves at the second Chiefs Locker Room Sale

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man’s dirty laundry is another person’s treasure, as Chiefs fans score at the Chiefs Pro Shop Locker Room Sale. It’s the second year the Chiefs Pro Shop has put on the sale outside Arrowhead Stadium.

Hundreds of Chiefs fans are walking away with some special gear, some of which was worn by the back-to-back Super Bowl Champions. Some of these fans waited more than four hours in line to get inside the Pavilion.

One fan said it was worth the wait, as he scored gear worn by Chiefs players. He got here at 8:30 a.m., while others arrived at 4:15 a.m.

“I came around the corner and there was already like 300 people in line,” Chiefs Fan Frank Tamburello said.

“I think I got 15 or 20 things in here.”

After two hours in line, Bionica Jackson got the call to touch down inside the Locker Room Sale. She, like many others, is looking to scratch some presents off her Christmas list.

“I’m going to look at t-shirts,” Jackson said.

“I’m going to look at the shoes, they probably won’t have my size but I might get something for my husband.”

Kevin Bayus, the Retail Director at the Arrow Market with the Kansas City Chiefs said they saw 200 to 300 people before noon, with a line still out the door. They put out thousands of items, he said, including practice and game-used jerseys, footballs, cleats and gloves.

“You can tell by the winning culture that’s here and it’s good to give back to the fans some reasonably priced items and you can tell by the excitement of the fans that are here,” said Bayus.

While some pieces have seen the field, others haven’t been worn. Bayus said the jerseys belonged to former and current players. They’re even selling players’ and coaches’ compression pants, but it will cost you. We saw some that belonged to Patrick Mahomes for sale for $200 and Andy Ried being sold for $100.

“This was on the field, I mean it could’ve been any player, but I mean it’s still neat to have something that was part of the Superbowl run,” Chiefs Fan Alex Otto said.

Bayus said the first Chiefs fans were in line at 4:15 a.m.

Otto said next year, he’ll get here earlier. Still, he scored a hoodie.

“The hoody was $25, like you buy that in a store, that’s usually $75-$100,” Otto said.

“But I think it’s kind of cool to own a piece of like Chiefs memorabilia.”

“I’m wearing Chiefs, Chiefs jersey,” 3-year-old Connor Madden said.

His mom Mallory drove in from Emporia for the sale. It was her 3-year-old’s first time at Arrowhead. They got more than they bargained for, meeting KC Wolf while waiting in line.

“His room is decked out in Chiefs, he’s destined to be a big Chiefs player for sure,” Madden said.

Some Swifties ditched the “Cardigan” and crashed the party. Tanner Hansult sported his number 87, Swift t-shirt while picking up some merch.

“I got a not Travis Kelce jersey and not Mahomes jersey,” Hansult said.

Organizers said they saw a bigger crowd than last year. As of Friday afternoon, the gear is pretty much gone.

The scheduled Locker Room Sale for Saturday will be closed.
