'Fun while it lasted': Fever's NaLyssa Smith doesn't seem satisfied with amount of touches

Indiana Fever third-year forward NaLyssa Smith doesn't appear satisfied with how often she gets the ball.

Against the Dallas Wings in the regular season home finale on Sunday, Smith, who started the game, put up 8 points and 6 rebounds in 19 minutes, 11 seconds of action. She was 4 for 7 from the field and 0 for 2 from the free throw line. Smith also had 3 personal fouls and was -9 in plus/minus.

When DiJonai Carrington of the Connecticut Sun tweeted "see what happens when my girl gets some touches" during the Fever-Wings game, Smith responded with a tweet of her own afterward.

"Fun while it lasted babe," Smith posted. Smith has since deleted the post.

This season, Smith has averaged 10.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Last year, Smith's numbers were better with 15.5 points and 9.2 rebounds. As a rookie in 2022, she had 13.5 points and 7.9 rebounds.

Smith's minutes per contest have also dipped. In 2024, she averaged 28.5 a game. This year she is at 25. In 2022, Smith was at 30.7.

Smith was drafted second overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft out of Baylor. In April 2024, the Fever exercised their fourth-year option on Smith's contract.

According to Spotrac, Smith makes $80,943 for the 2024 season. Her salary in 2025 will go up to $91,981.
