Will Gasparino had a big game and Jalin Flores took two big swings as Texas ended its season-opening eight-game homestand with a 15-4 win over St. John's on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Gasparino went 3-for-3 and Flores homered twice for No. 15 Texas (7-1), which now heads into a competitive portion of its schedule: six of the next seven games are against teams currently ranked in the top 25 of the D1Baseball poll. Only one of those games will be at Disch-Falk.

The Longhorns play No. 3 LSU — the defending national champions — on Friday in Houston, then No. 9 Vanderbilt in Houston on Sunday, then against No. 7 Texas A&M at Disch-Falk next Tuesday, and then a three-game series at No. 18 Texas Tech to open Big 12 play next weekend.

All three of Gasparino's hits Tuesday night drove in a run. But the biggest swing belonged to Flores. Facing a 2-2 count with two outs in the fourth inning, Flores broke a 3-3 tie by hammering a grand slam to left field. Dating back to the 2023 NCAA Tournament, Flores has now hit a grand slam in three of his last 12 games.

Flores also hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning.

Led by the offensive efforts of Gasparino and Flores, Texas was able to overcome two early deficits. Texas' 28-inning scoreless streak ended when St. John's scored an unearned run in the opening frame. Texas eventually allowed eight hits. Longhorns relief pitcher Luke Harrison, while celebrating a birthday, was credited with the victory.
