FSU men's basketball scoring leader announces decision to enter transfer portal
Florida State men's basketball saw its second departure to the NCAA Transfer portal when leading scorer Matthew Cleveland announced his intention to transfer Tuesday evening.
Cleveland averaged 13.8 points to lead the Seminoles and his 7.4 rebounds was second on the team in 30 games, all starts.
The Atlanta native announced his decision on Twitter.
"Thank you Florida State for the past two years and all the memories that I have made," Cleveland posted on Twitter on Tuesday night.
"Thank you to the whole coaching staff for making me who I am today not only as a player but as a man. With that being said I will be entering the transfer portal."

Report: Florida State men's basketball guard will enter the transfer portal
Guard Caleb Mills announced he was entering the portal at the end of March. He has since transferred to Memphis.
FSU head coach Leonard Hamilton indicated that he was expecting a roster overhaul following the worst season in FSU program history, which included 23 losses and just nine wins.
The sophomore guard made a heroic game-winning 3-pointer in an upset victory over Miami, who eventually reached the Final Four.
As a freshman out of Pace Academy Cleveland was second on the team with 11.5 points and third with 4.6 rebounds in 2021-22. His play earned him the 2022 ACC Sixth Man of the Year.
While the departure of Mills was expected following the disappointing season, the loss of Cleveland is more of a surprise.
The Seminoles have yet to add a player to the transfer portal but have reportedly been active.
What this means for FSU
Cleveland and Mills averaged a combined 26.8 points per game for the Seminoles.
Darin Green Jr., a UCF transfer ahead of the 2022-23 season, is the leading returner scorer for FSU. He averaged 13.4 points per game, establishing himself as the top 3-point scorer for the team.
Forward Cam'Ron Fletcher saw his season end on Dec. 3 after suffering a leg injury against Virginia was the only player who averaged double-figure points with 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Freshman forward Cameron Corhen averaged 8.3 points.
The Seminoles will need to target scorers in the portal to help replace their top two scorers.
