Will FSU football stars Jared Verse, Keon Coleman be 1st round picks in 2024 NFL Draft?

Florida State football will have plenty of representation at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

A dozen Seminoles received invites to the league's scouting combine which takes place from Monday, Feb 26, to Monday, Mar 4. That number is the third most, trailing only National Champion Michigan (18) and National Runner-Up Washington (13).

Jammie Robinson, who was selected in the fifth round last year by the Carolina Panthers, was the only invite last season.

The full list of players invited to the combine:

Verse and Coleman could become the first set of teammates since quarterback Jameis Winston (1st - Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and center Cameron Erving (19th - Cleveland Browns) to be selected in the first round.

Here's a roundup of post-Super Bowl 2024 NFL Mock Drafts.

Pro Football Focus

Last mock: Feb 12

First round

Pick 11, Minnesota Vikings: Jared Verse, Edge

"The Vikings will be one of those teams that could aggressively move up for a quarterback. If they can’t find a deal, look for them to shift their focus to the defensive line. Interior or edge could be in play here, but with Verse still on the board, he is the pick here."

Pick 32, Kansas City Chiefs: Keon Coleman, Wide receiver

"Coleman’s draft stock has been anywhere from top-10 pick to second-rounder this draft season. He’s an incredibly gifted athlete, but his game lacks consistent separation. Still, his talent level is too high for a team like the Chiefs — who desperately need an alpha X receiver — to pass up."

Second round

Pick 61: Detroit Lions: DI Braden Fiske

First round

Pick 6: New York Giants: Jared Verse, Edge

"Will Anderson Jr. ’s production dropped in his final year at Alabama (34.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks to 17 and 10) but he proved his combination of power and speed was NFL-ready. I expect to see the same from Verse, who was no less of a problem for offensive lines in 2023 than he was in the previous season, even if his numbers were slightly less impressive in ‘23 (17 TFL, 9 sacks in ‘22; 12.5 and 9 in ‘23)."

Pick 25: Kansas City Chiefs: Keon Coleman, Wide receiver

"PROJECTED TRADE WITH GREEN BAY PACKERS

"Selecting receiver Rashee Rice last year in the second round was a nice start, but the Chiefs’ inconsistency at the position could force them to trade up for another top-tier talent. They send their third-round selection, as well as a fifth-rounder, to Green Bay for this pick."

Second round

Pick 46: Indianapolis Colts: Johnny Wilson, Wide receiver

Third round

Pick 85: Cleveland Browns: Trey Benson, Running back

The Athletic

Last mock: Feb 12

First round

Pick 16: Seattle Seahawks: Jared Verse, Edge

"Seattle has needs along the offensive interior and might be in position to trade back. But Mike Macdonald could get his regime started with an athletic, explosive three-down edge like Verse, who likely would’ve been a first-rounder last year had he declared. Though pressure packages are a big part of Macdonald’s system, so are twitchy edge defenders who can rush, cover and stop the run.

Pick 28: Buffalo Bills: Keon Coleman, Wide receiver

"Buffalo’s good enough to go in a few different directions, but receiver is definitely on the list. The range on Coleman could end up being wide, as the 6-4, 215-pounder will jump out of the building at the combine and probably surprise a few with his speed and explosion. He’s a freaky athlete.

Second round

Pick 80: Cincinnati Bengals: Braden Fiske, DT, Florida State

Third round

Pick 96: Jacksonville Jaguars: Johnny Wilson, WR, Florida State

Walter Football

Last mock: Feb 12

First round

Pick 20: Pittsburgh Steelers: Jared Verse, DE

"The Steelers were 8-2 with T.J. Watt on the field in 2022, but 1-6 without him. They need another pass rusher to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

Jared Verse has nice athleticism and a steady motor."

Second round

Pick 34: New England Patriots: Keon Coleman, WR

"It almost doesn’t matter who’s at quarterback; the Patriots need to improve their dreadful receiving corps. Keon Coleman is a massive receiver with quickness and good ball skills."
