Florida State football continues to add more depth to its 2024 recruitment class as it lands 4-star cornerback Cai Bates out of Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida.

He is ranked as the No. 15 player in Florida and the No. 9 cornerback in the country. He is the fourth top-ranked defensive back to commit to FSU in the 2024 cycle alongside Jamari Howard (4-star), Charles Lester III (4-star) and KJ Bolden (5-star).

The 6-foot-1.5-inch, 180-pound cornerback logged 23 tackles, three interceptions and nine pass deflections this season with Edgewater, helping the Eagles to an 11-1 record. Edgewater fell to Orlando Jones High School, 28-24, in the FHSAA Class 3M regional championship round.

He picked FSU over multiple programs including Tennessee, Alabama, LSU and others. He made his official visit to FSU on June 11.

Bates is a big gain for FSU after 3-star safety CJ Heard decommitted from FSU on Nov. 19. He originally committed on July 30, 2022, and made an official visit on June 23.
