France players ‘waiting for’ Zinedine Zidane after becoming ‘fed up’ with Didier Deschamps
According to Romain Molina, players involved in the France national team set-up have become ‘fed up’ of the coaching of Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps. Calls for Zidane to become the new head coach are increasing.
The France boss has been in charge of the national team for 12 years and led his nation to World Cup glory in 2018. However, it appears his players are growing tired of his management. With players ‘fed up’ of the former Marseille coach, there are calls from the Les Bleus ranks for Zinedine Zidane to become the new boss of France.
Zidane is currently unemployed which would make him an appointable candidiate for the French Football Federation. Nevertheless, the football governing body stood by Deschamps after EURO 2024 and plan for the World Cup winner to lead the nation in to the 2026 edition of the tournament set to be held in North America. The former Real Madrid manager is seen as an ideal candidate to replace the French national team boss but a swithc seems unlikely before the next international tournament.
Fractious relationship with Mbappé
In addition to calls for Deschamps to leave his current role, the head coach is currently embroiled in conflict with national team captain Kylian Mbappé. Molina reports that the Real Madrid forward is refusing to play for his country amid a broken relationship with the coach. The 25-year-old could consider international retirement.
