Fort Myers Tip-Off schedule: Xavier to face South Carolina, Michigan-Virginia Tech winner
The Xavier Musketeers are scheduled to face the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Fort Myers Tip-Off on Monday, November 25, at 8:30 p.m. Eastern, the tournament announced Wednesday.
It would be the first head-to-head matchup between the teams since 1941. FS1 is scheduled to broadcast the game on TV.
The XU-South Carolina winner is scheduled to face the Michigan-Virginia Tech winner in the four-team Beach Division bracket, with the third-place game scheduled for Wednesday, November 27, at 6 p.m. Eastern, and the championship game scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
The multi-team event on the Musketeers' non-conference schedule also includes Miami University. Rocco Miller reported in May that MU will face Michigan in November, presumably before the teams head to Ft. Myers.
The RedHawks, led by former XU head coach Travis Steele, are in the event's Palms Division, with Siena, Jacksonville and Mercer.
Xavier is scheduled to host Siena on Nov. 20 at Cintas Center as part of the event. The RedHawks are scheduled to face the Saints in Ft. Myers on Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. Eastern.
The MU-Siena winner would then face the Jacksonville-Mercer winner on Tuesday (Nov. 26), at 1:30 p.m. Eastern, with the third-place game scheduled for 11 a.m. the same day. Palms Division games are scheduled be streamed on FSWBucs.com.
All games Nov. 25-27 are scheduled to be played at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College.
